This picture book that follows a young Egyptian girl through a typical day, giving children a glimpse into everyday life in Egypt. From spending time with her family and visiting her grandparents to exploring the city and enjoying traditional food, the story introduces readers to Egyptian culture through a child’s eyes.
For the illustrations, I drew inspiration from my own Egyptian background and memories. I wanted to capture the warmth of family life, the colours of the streets, and the many small details that make daily life in Egypt unique. Through rich colours, lively scenes, and carefully observed details, the artwork helps bring the story to life and invites children to explore a culture that may be new to them.
Part of the Our World series by Barefoot Books, the book celebrates cultural diversity while highlighting the experiences that children share wherever they live.
